Cordelia has been a proud resident of the Calder Valley since 1996, with seven of those years spent living in Ryburn ward. Here, she has raised her three children, all of whom received their education within our local community. Cordelia's commitment to our area runs deep, rooted in her experiences here and her desire to make a positive impact. She has worked as a musician and teacher in the local area for nearly 30 years. She is also a keen gardener, and loves to grow and cook her own food.
Driven by a lifelong passion for environmental advocacy, Cordelia has been actively involved in protesting against environmental issues since 2019. She believes strongly in the urgent need for sustainable practices, particularly when it comes to local food production. Cordelia is an advocate for growing food locally and sustainably, with a keen interest in permaculture—a holistic approach to agriculture that focuses on working with nature's patterns. We are lucky to live in an area with many farmers and growers producing wonderful food locally, which is a real blessing as we look to our future food security in these challenging times. Cordelia is keen to support and promote local food producers, especially in working sustainably and in harmony with nature to meet our local needs.
Cordelia’s decision to stand as a Green Party candidate for Calderdale Council in Ryburn ward reflects her dedication to promoting eco-friendly policies and ensuring the well-being of our community and environment. She envisions a future where our local council actively supports initiatives that prioritise sustainability and green living.
