I am originally from Brighouse, and for one reason and another , have lived here most of my life , so feel very invested in the place. I work as a Health Visitor and am the Infant Feeding Lead for the Health Visiting Service in Bradford District care Trust .
I’ve been a member of the Green Party for several years as I believe they are the only party committed to both social justice and environmentalism for the benefit of all and the planet as a whole.
I would love to represent the Green Party on Calderdale Council . I have seen how beneficial and what a positive impact having just one or two Green Party member can have on a Council.
If elected I would strive to work cross party to get a Green Voice in all relevant policy areas.
Of immediate concern to me is the poor air quality in Brighouse . This wasn’t helped by the council agreeing to allow a major supermarket on the ring road and nor will it be helped by building on all the remaining precious Green Belt , whilst ignoring all the available brownfield sites.
I would encourage CMBC to phase out all fossil fuel wherever possible and embrace sustainable energy thus saving money , and the planet , in the long term .
If elected I would aim to make a lasting , positive benefit to the residents of Brighouse.
