Support for Green Party candidates in Calderdale soared to its highest level ever in the 2024 Local Council elections, with the sharp rise in support in Halifax making the Green Party the third largest party by vote share in Calderdale.

Elaine Hay secured Northowram and Shelf with 68% of the vote to give Northowram and Shelf its third Green Councillor while Sabir Hussain gained over 25% of the vote in Park at his first attempt.

Other notable results were in Elland, Brighouse, Todmorden, Skircoat, Calder, Town and Sowerby Bridge while vote share exceeded 6% in all other wards.
