Martin Hey achieved the best result for Calderdale Green Party in recent history in the 2021 Local Elections as he gained a 24% share of the vote in Northowram and Shelf, pushing the Labour Party into third place.
While this is not the first time a Green Party candidate has come second in a local election, it is the first time they have done so by pushing the Labour Party into third place.
It is also the first time in recent history that a Green Party candidate has taken well over 20% of the share of the vote.
We congratulate Martin and all the volunteers who supported him in this campaign and we look forward to even greater things in future.
