Council building proposals will trigger gridlock on the roads and rising pollution

Local Plan hearings reveal that Council building proposals will trigger gridlock on the roads and rising pollution. At the latest Local Plan hearings, Martin Hey, Green Party candidate for Northowram and Shelf, spoke out against the massive house building proposals for our area. This followed the inquiry being shown damning evidence of the impact of additional housing on traffic and pollution levels.

After the hearing, Martin said:

The growth in housing proposed by the Council will lead to more traffic on our roads, damaging our ability to travel for work or to see family and friends. I urge the Council to moderate the Plan to avoid gridlock and excessive levels of pollution. These are the wrong houses in the wrong places.
