Local residents on the Greenacres estate in Shelf have renewed their calls for a solution to be found for the traffic chaos that occurs twice a day during term time.
St Michael’s school in Shelf sits at the far end of the estate, leading to small streets in the area being clogged with traffic at drop-off and pick-up time. Martin Hey, Green Party candidate for Northowram and Shelf, spoke to local resident Robert Pringle about the issue. Robert said:
We have a wide range of traffic related issues on the estate — from careless parking and idling to speeding and accidents.
Martin commented:
It’s disappointing that a School Street scheme has yet to be adopted in Shelf. I’ll be pressing the Council to listen to residents and to take action in time for the start of the next school year.
