Poly Jack- Green Party Candidate for Town Ward May 2019

Poly Jack

My name is Polly and I am the Green Party candidate for the Town Ward in Halifax. I am a 23 year old politics graduate hoping to become more involved in local issues now my three years of studying are complete and I am back living in Halifax full time. I joined the Green Party in 2014 whilst studying at college. Since joining, I have only become more certain that Green candidates are needed not only on a local level, but also nationally.
I have lived in Halifax my entire life and although our town has many reasons to be proud, a number of issues within the town do concern me:
- Homelessness is a growing issue, particularly within Halifax town centre. Providing help and support for rough sleepers would be a priority for me.
- Public transport is another issue which I would prioritise. Encouraging the use of our local bus services is not only better for the environment, but also encourages a sense of community in our town. After speaking to residents within the Town Ward, many said they would be more likely to use the bus if services were more affordable and more frequent.
- Addressing the issue of mental health within our community is crucial. We must make treatment and support more readily available for everyone.
