I have lived in Calderdale all my life. The reason I love living here is the people are generally really friendly good people. We have good parks and good places for children, like Eureka. In Ovenden we have some really good primary schools.
I have two children: Samantha, 7 and George, 3 and I live with Sean, my partner of 15years. I am a stay at home mum, hoping to go to college in September to train as a teaching assistant.
I passionately believe in a publicly funded NHS with properly funded mental health services. In Ovenden I would work with GPs and other services to ensure local residents had good access to services and mental health services in the area. Also with the planned changes to the hospital I will work with other groups to ensure any services put into our local community in North Halifax are fit for purpose and accessible to all who need them.
I am against the current government plans to change all schools to become academies. If local primary schools are to become academies I would work with Heads Teachers Parents to make sure we got the academy set up people wanted. Also I would work with Ovenden Initiative and Sure Start and organisations like the Three ways Centre and others to build on the brilliant Early years and Youth provisions we have in Ovenden.
I have lived in Ovenden all my life and enjoy living here. I want to be your Councillor to help secure the area’s future and make sure local residents have and receive the services they want and need.
